2008 Election and Registration Deadlines



PRECINCT PARTY CAUCUS — Tuesday, February 5
A Colorado voter affiliated with his/her political party for at least two months and a resident of the precinct for 30 days may participate in the precinct party caucus. The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates to county assemblies and to begin discussing the party platform. To become affiliated, contact the political party of your choice.

COUNTY/DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES & STATE CONVENTIONS —February 20 though March 17
Delegates attend their county assemblies where candidates are selected to run for county offices in the August Primary. Delegates are also selected to attend district assemblies and the state convention. The dates for these events are scheduled by the Colorado political parties.

PRIMARY ELECTION — Tuesday, August 12
The purpose of the State Primary Election is to nominate candidates from the political parties for U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, elective statewide offices, state legislators, and district and county offices. A voter at the primary election must be registered and affiliated with a political party. Any unaffiliated, registered voter may declare a party affiliation at this time.

GENERAL ELECTION —Tuesday, November 4
The final vote for federal and state elected officials is held in even-numbered years. Voters may also have the opportunity to vote on statewide ballot issues.
