LEADER OF DEMOCRACY 2023
Honoring Representative Jason Crow

ON JUNE 3, 2023, the League of Women Voters of Colorado celebrates the winner of the 2023 Leaders of Democracy Award, REPRESENTATIVE JASON CROW of Colorado’s 6th Congressional District for his heroism and for defending our democratic processes after January 6th, 2021.

THIS IS OUR FIRST IN PERSON FUNDRAISING EVENT SINCE 2019 and would love your support and presence at History Colorado as we celebrate the League’s mission of empowering voters and defending democracy!

DETAILS

ALL EXHIBITS WILL BE OPEN as you nibble on hors d’oeuvres and sip libations, then join us in the MDC/Richmond American Homes Foundation Room for a meaningful mosaic of poetry, storytelling, and appreciation!

The program itself will be an hour and a half, and all attendees will be able to look at all the exhibits FOR FREE during the event. The ceremony will take place in History Colorado's atrium, which now has Ute Tribe teepees – the Ute tribe being the first people of Colorado.

The theme is "We're ALL CO (Colorado)," with the program divided into three sections based on the CO in Colorado – COnnection, COllaboration, COmmunity. Ahja Fox, Poet Laureate of Aurora will be opening the evening. Poetry (art) has the ability to alter consciousness and ground everyone, setting the tone for a beautiful evening. Her words have the ability to start points of connection for an authentic experience.

Past Leader of Democracy recipients include Sen. Polly Baca, former Secretary of State Wayne Williams, and the multipartisan Y&Z Coalition, which helped to draft and promote Amendments Y&Z allowing for independent redistricting.
