News on the Data Front
Data Ambassadors
The LWVUS Data Ambassadors Committee continues its work. They are examining what kind of data leagues can and should be collecting, how to use that data, how to share the data, and so on. The goal is to produce a toolkit for local leagues for release at Convention. That goal seems ambitious, but they are working with the real-life program: People Powered Fair Maps, and will build data requirements from lessons learned. Stay tuned.
LWVCO Data Collector
While the Data Ambassadors have not defined the types of data they recommend we collect, we can begin our collection of demographic data and update and amend as needed. Beth Hendrix and I have created a Data Collector spreadsheet on Google Docs that will allow all of us to report the statistics that we can use to tell our stories.
We will ask all of the local leagues to report periodically -- for example, 15 July and 15 January. Over time, we'll refine the questions we're asking. As we build up a series of reports, we'll create a picture of our league.
Click the link above to check out the spreadsheet. If there are other kinds of information that would be useful or better ways to report, let me know ( rionda.osman@gmail.com ).
When you follow the link:
- You will be asked to log into your Google account.
- On the first page, you can add information or notes.
- On the second sheet, Data Report July 2020, you will find the questions to be answered. Scroll to the right to reach your league's column.
