ACTION ALERT
Ask your Colorado House Representative to support HB23-1115 Local Control of Rents to repeal the current law that prohibits local governments from enacting laws to stabilize residential rent increases.
Currently, Colorado law does not limit the amount that a landlord can raise rents each year, and Colorado law currently prohibits local governments from adopting ordinances or regulations to stabilize rent prices in their communities. LWVCO supports policies to provide a decent home and a suitable living environment for every person. The Colorado Health Foundation 2022 Pulse Poll found that Coloradans are overwhelmed by the rising cost of living and the cost of housing, and there are almost daily news stories about Coloradans being priced out of their homes by large rent increases.
